Protiviti is a global consulting firm that delivers deep ex- pertise, objective insights, a
tailored approach and unparalleled
collaboration through consulting
solutions in finance, technology, operations, data, analytics, governance,
risk and internal audit to clients via
its network of more than 70 offices
in over 20 countries. Joseph Tarantino, President and CEO of Protiviti,
sat down with Consulting to discuss
Protiviti’s performance.
Consulting: What were the
main factors that contributed
to your firm’s growth?
Tarantino: Our strategy focuses on
continuing to deliver deep expertise and a tailored approach to our
clients. We also continue to put a
strong emphasis on giving our people the training they need to provide
our clients with the best possible
business solutions, and nurturing a
‘best place to work’ culture to ensure we attract and retain top talent.
Consulting: How is this year
shaping up for your firm?
Tarantino: A significant proportion
of our growth this year has come
from our internal audit and financial
advisory, and risk and compliance
practices. We see this as the result
of persistent regulatory pressure, the
demand for robust internal controls,
and investments in technology. Our
technology consulting experts are in
demand, especially for their exten-
sive cybersecurity experience.
Consulting: Where do you see
the most opportunities?
Tarantino: Earlier this year, we
launched Protiviti Digital, in response to increasing demand from
our clients to help them navigate
the new digital environment. This
service, which draws on our global consulting expertise across all of
our offerings, helps our clients with,
among other things, their customer
engagement strategy, the process of
digitizing their products and services, the use of advanced analytics
to improve their decision-making
and the use of the latest technology to improve their business performance. We see the digitization
space, along with others such as
cybersecurity and data analytics, as
a significant opportunity for growth
and feel very optimistic about
our outlook for next year.
Consulting: What would you
say are your firm’s biggest
challenges in 2018?
Tarantino: Our biggest challenge
continues to be sourcing and retain-
ing new talent to keep up with client
needs and our growth. We work hard
to ensure that we are able to offer our
people a truly collaborative and in-
clusive environment where they can
learn and grow their careers. Win-
ning accolades based on employee
feedback, such as Consulting’s Best
Firms to Work For and Fortune’s 100
Best Companies to Work For, con-
firm that we are on the right track.
Consulting: What does being
named one of Consulting’s
Fastest Growing Firms mean
to your firm, your employees
and your clients?
Tarantino: We’re proud of achieving this award for three consecutive
years. It also lets our clients and prospective clients know that we are constantly expanding our level of service
and expertise to provide objective
insights and unparalleled collaboration to help solve their critical business problems, enabling them to face
the future with confidence. For our
employees, this accolade reinforces
that we are a growth-oriented organization able to provide them with exciting opportunities for a challenging
career and professional development.
