GROWTH PERCENTAGE:
MOTIV
Based in Seattle, Motiv’s core offerings include operations, technology, creative and human capital services. Executed with
human-centered principles, Motiv delivers clients velocity, scale
and execution. Realizing a purpose-driven workforce can deliver
significant competitive advantages,
they have redesigned the staffing
process by evaluating the “
productive potential” of human capital,
says David Graves, Managing Director. Graves sat down with
Consulting to discuss the firm.
Consulting: What were the
main factors that contributed
to your firm’s growth?
Graves: We believe in people. Specifically, we believe in the ability of
people to perform remarkably when
paired with work opportunities that
align with four critical performance
dimensions: Purpose, Persona,
Pathway and Proficiency. Using
these dimensions, we have developed our “Motiv Method.” This
method ensures we not only match
our clients with someone qualified for the position, but also with
someone that embraces the work
as it is continuously aligned to the
potential of their human capital and
skill set. With a careful evaluative
process, and on-going guidance,
we believe that our ability to identify, match and manage knowledge
workers in opportunities creates the

highest yield for our clients.
Consulting: How is this year
shaping up for your firm?
Graves: Each year we aim to grow,
learn and evolve, and 2017 will be
no different. While staying true to
our core beliefs and human-centered
principles, we are constantly evaluating emerging technologies, alignment methodologies and customer/
knowledge worker experience trends
to deliver an unparalleled service.
Consulting: How would you
describe your firm’s outlook
for 2018? Where do you see
the most opportunities?
Graves: We can’t wait for 2018.
We see that digital transformation
is increasingly enabling “agile everything,” creating a fundamental
shift in how people think about
work. In the same way that over
the years cloud has transformed
software and hardware, digital networks are changing the relationships between workers and employers. Employers need to trust
that they can add the right mix of
passionate knowledge workers, at
the exact time they need them, all
while maintaining the ability to
pivot and change course as external market forces themselves shift.
Consulting: What would you
say are your firm’s biggest
challenges in 2018?
20
Graves: Diversity and inclusion
(D&I). Motiv strives to maintain
a vibrant and dynamic workforce
filled with visible and subtle differences that make us uniquely prepared to serve our clients. As a mi-nority-owned business ourselves,
we will always embrace the challenge of being human-centered and
leading with empathy.
Consulting: What does being
named one of Consulting’s
Fastest Growing Firms mean
to your firm, your employees
and your clients?
Graves: Motiv is proud and hum-
bled to be named one of Consult-
ing’s Fastest Growing Firms. Be-
ing recognized with this award is
a great honor and true validation
for the way Motiv does business.
We do owe this back to our clients
and associates who have been a
part of our firm over the years.
