Triangle Insights Group is a strategy consulting firm that provides strategic guidance
on the most critical business issues
to leaders in life sciences organizations. “Our goal is ambitious: to
redefine how you think about life
sciences consultancies. To replace
confusion with clarity. To deliver
insights and strategies that foster
confidence,” says Barrett Rankin,
a Partner with Triangle Insights
Group. “Through every step of
our customized approaches, you'll
benefit from the personal attention
of an entire team of accomplished
advisors—their collective vision,
collaborative approach and total
commitment.” Rankin sat down
with Consulting to discuss the
firm’s financial performance.
Consulting: What were the
main factors that contributed
to your firm’s growth?
Rankin: In short, our people. Our
ability to attract high-caliber talent
in RTP as well as San Francisco
(spanning MBAs, PhDs, MDs, and
PharmDs) has enabled us to build
a team that consistently delivers
top-quality work to executives
within the life sciences firms we
serve. Across all projects, we've
earned a 9. 3 score (on a scale of
10) in terms of overall client sat-
isfaction. Our commitment to
top-quality work drives repeat
business and referrals, both of
which have served as the backbone
of our growth to date.
Consulting: How is this year
shaping up for your firm?
Rankin: This is our fifth year of
operation at Triangle Insights and
we continue to thrive. We enjoyed
30 percent-plus growth year-over-year in 1H' 17. This year has also
seen us significantly expand our
staff, including a build-out of our
San Francisco office, which we
opened in late 2016.
Consulting: How would you
describe your firm’s outlook
for 2018?
Rankin: We believe 2018 will be
another strong year for Triangle
Insights, fueled by the expansion
of our relationships with current
clients as well as penetration into
new accounts. The areas from
which we believe we will see high
growth in 2018 include oncology,
cell/gene therapies, and orphan
diseases, among others.
Consulting: : What would you
say are your firm’s biggest
challenges in 2018?
Rankin:The challenges we see for
2018 are similar to the challenges
we have observed throughout our
history (and are not uncommon for
any fast-growing consulting firm).
First, we need to ensure we contin-
ue to drive “quality growth” - ex-
panding our client base but never
losing sight of our core values: pre-
mier-quality work, fervent com-
mitment to client partnership, and
a prominent position as thought
leaders within the life sciences in-
dustry. The second challenge is a
related one: continuing to attract
and retain “best of the best” talent
capable of driving insights toward
the critical strategic questions
posed to us by our clients.
Consulting: What does being
named one of Consulting’s
Fastest Growing Firms mean
to your firm, your employees
and your clients?
Rankin: Being recognized as one
of Consulting's Fastest Growing
Firms is a tremendous honor, and
serves as a nice endorsement for
the incredible work and high-quality client delivery that our employees strive for every day.
