Consulting caught up with CEO Allen Miller to discuss COPE Health Solutions’ financial performance, its exceptional growth, its outlook, opportunities and challenges for 2018.

Consulting: What were the main factors that contributed to your firm’s exceptional growth?

Miller: As health care providers continue to take on risk and move to value-based care, COPE Health Solutions has anticipated their needs (e.g., predictive analytics, value-based cost modeling, new partnerships across the continuum) and helped them to innovate and implement accordingly. COPE Health Solutions clients appreciate having a partner to drive and enable sustainable change.

Consulting: How is this year shaping up for your firm?

tory uncertainty requires quick in-
terpretations of the implications of
policy changes for our clients’ core
business—something they rely on
our team to support.

Consulting: How would you describe your firm’s outlook for 2018? Where do you see the most opportunities? Miller: Health care is in the midst of legislative and regulatory change, however the need to get better health outcomes for less dollars per member/patient is not a trend but the new reality. To be successful, health care organizations need to make the critical move to taking on risk and ultimately manage the health of populations. COPE Health Solutions is uniquely capable to enable the transformation of our clients’ health care business as it moves from fee-for-service to value-based care. Our team has deep expertise in the areas of network development, care management and managed services organizations, and funds-flow/val-ue modeling and analytics.

Consulting: What would you say are your firm’s biggest challenges in 2018?

Miller: Though one of the largest health care consulting firms in the country with clients that include some of the most nationally recognized healthcare organizations, COPE Health Solutions is relatively unknown in some markets. Our challenge is to ensure health care organizations in those markets learn about the firm and understand our qualifications and experience in providing advisory and implementation assistance.
