35UNDER THE RISING STARS OF THE
PROFESSION
Impact
Advisors’
Ryan Uteg
has some pretty big feathers
in his cap. Over the past year
alone, Uteg has worked with the
leadership of over two-dozen
healthcare organizations across
the U.S., where his work has
driven the strategic planning
and capital budget process for
the IT function of a 15 hospital
health system.
He also led the development of a
research billing strategy for a $5B
health system, resulting in decreased
likelihood of regulatory fines, in-
creased revenue, and standardized
workflow across 10+ hospitals and a
1,000 member physician group.
Uteg knows the importance of
first impressions, and says it’s
helped him realize growth with the
firm. “Most of our business is refer-ral-driven. That means that every
time I set foot at a client I am making an impression that can help our
firm grow. We’ve experienced tremendous growth over the past year
and I’m proud to be a part of that.
Uteg credits much of his success
to Impact Advisors, who have al-
lowed him the flexibility to excel
in a variety of areas, and work with
talented people who also thrive in
that environment.
“I think the ability to be flexible
and succeed in a variety of different work environments has benefited me. The best consultants I have
worked with are often the ones who
are the most agile and able to adapt
to rapidly changing client needs/en-vironments,” he says.
When asked what the award
means to him, Uteg says it’s an
honor just to have been nominated
by his peers. “This is just as much a
recognition of the work they do as
it is of what I have accomplished,
probably more so.” ★
Tony
Swanson
is a senior
strategy consultant for EY,
whose cross-disciplinary
background and approach has
proven an effective combination
to attract and win business.
One client even told him that
the strength of his intellect was
a determining factor in giving
EY their business. How’s that
for an ego boost?
Swanson says it’s been “a thrill”
to help establish EY’s advisory
practice, which has grown from a
small handful of people to hundreds
over the last five years.
“I’ve had the privilege to complete
some very exciting work for a number of high profile clients – creating
an innovation group at a fortune 50
company, establishing a non-profit
to accelerate brain research, managing a strategy engagement for one
of the largest sporting events in the
world – but I’m most proud of the
teams I’ve helped build in the process,” he says.
Swanson’s passion is building
teams. So much so that he de-
vised and launched an innovative
crowdsourcing platform to regu-
larly share and leverage insights
across his group.
When asked what excites him
most about his career, Swanson said
it’s helping his clients overcome
their problems.
“Supporting my clients in facing
these challenges with new solutions, and translating leading practices from one industry into another
is particularly rewarding,” he says.
As for the recognition of the
Rising Stars Award, Swanson says
it’s “humbling” to know that so
many leaders he wanted to emulate at the start of his career think
enough of his work to nominate
him for the award. ★
