PROFESSION
As TriVista
Business
Group’s
first employee at age 2 3, Mike
McSweeney’s first day on the
job was held at the founder’s
dining room table. Now 30,
McSweeney is a Senior Vice
President and Partner in the
firm, which has since grown
ten-fold under his leadership.
McSweeney has led the develop-
ment of the firm’s long-term strate-
gic plan, supported the development
of the operational plan and executed
on the firm’s tactical sales, mar-
keting and corporate development
activities. He was instrumental in
establishing TriVista’s China opera-
tion, which now includes offices in
Tianjin, Shenzhen and Shanghai.
One of the pinnacle moments in
McSweeney’s career has been leading diligence on a $500 million
M&A acquisition for one of the
most successful private equity firms
in the country.
“This was an especially important
moment in my career—it gave me
the courage to continue to tackle
challenges that to be quite frank,
10 years ago I would have thought
were impossible. It’s moments like
these in my career that make me re-
alize how far I’ve come profession-
ally,” he says.
As for his success, he gives much
of the credit to his parents, “who
relentlessly embedded a strong
work ethic and who always pushed
and challenged me,” his cowork-
ers, “some of the brightest folks
around,” and learning an important
lesson early on: “client satisfaction
is paramount in everything we do.”
As for the Rising Stars of
the Profession award, McSweeney
says he is honored and excited.
“It’s a great feeling to be recog-
nized by my colleagues in such a
public forum.” ★
