ANTHONY
CARMELLO
EY
EY’s
Anthony
Carmello
really exemplifies the concept
of a “rising star.” From his early
days as a firm staffer, his peers
often would say that he’d be EY’s
Chairman one day. Since being
promoted to partner in 2013 after
just 11 years at the firm, he’s
certainly on the right track.
Described by his peers as “
fearless” but also “extremely humble”,
Carmello credits the unwavering
support of his family as well as his
firm for his success.
“Family and EY have been the
most influential factors to my suc-
cess. The inspiring work ethic and
unconditional support of my family
have been instrumental in my life.
At EY, the combination of mentorship and opportunity has been invaluable. I feel privileged to have
outstanding mentors who truly invest in my career,” he says.
Carmello’s instincts and perceptive
abilities make him a highly sought-
after asset to EY. His abilities do not
escape the attention of clients either,
who often request he personally be on
the team before extending an EY con-
tract. Carmello says his work helping
EY grow its advisory practice has
been “extremely rewarding” while
helping fulfill the firm’s purpose of
“building a better working world.”
I am excited about the opportunity
for innovation and the continuous
pursuit of helping my clients man-
age risk, improve performance and
enable change,” he says.
Carmello says he’s “truly honored” by the award, and largely
credits the support and mentorship
of his fellow consultants.
“It is both extremely humbling and
motivating to be selected. I am committed to paying forward the level of
mentorship and leadership that have
been afforded to me.” ★
As is the case
with many
of the Rising
Stars of the Profession, West
Monroe Partners’ Keith Campbell
has a natural aversion to
bureaucratic limitations to career
progression. That’s probably why
he was promoted from consultant
to senior manager in just six-
and-a-half years, the fastest such
ascension in firm history.
As senior manager in West Mon-
roe’s M&A practice, Campbell
has led the delivery of over 30 IT
carve-out, due diligence, and execu-
tion projects for leading private eq-
uity firms. Recruited out of college,
Campbell says he was attracted to the
firm by opportunities it offered that
larger firms could not.
“One of the main reasons I chose to
join West Monroe out of college was
its middle-market focus and smaller
teams that offered accelerated professional growth opportunities that
wouldn’t have been possible in a
large firm,” he says.
As for what keeps his engine run-
ning, Campbell says the entrepre-
neurial aspects of his role at West
Monroe are especially appealing to
him. “What is exciting about this is
the opportunity to experience the ins
and outs of running an entrepreneur-
ial ‘mini business’ within the orga-
nization and everything that comes
with that—from shaping and building
the team to nurturing client relation-
ships to ensuring we always execute
according to expectations.”
Campbell calls winning the Rising
Stars of the Profession award a re-
markable honor. “To me, this award
validates the years of work and dedi-
cation to client service that have gone
into bringing distinguished merger
and acquisition and carve-out solu-
tions to the market. It makes me even
more excited to see where we can
take this practice in the future.” ★
