ed in 2004, Cumberland began
by providing IT consulting ser-
vices to clients in a variety of
industries with a focus on excel-
lent client service, which remains
one of the firm’s top priorities to-
day. As the demand for strategic
healthcare IT consulting services
developed, Cumberland soon
began focusing exclusively on
the healthcare industry. The firm
grew steadily and started receiv-
ing accolades from top industry
publications and associations
both for the quality of its client
work and for creating a great
place to work. In 2013, Cumber-
land acquired Mindlance Life
Sciences, diversifying its client
base to include pharmaceutical
manufacturers. Two years later,
Cumberland acquired Oleen
Pinnacle Healthcare Consulting,
increasing its presence in the
payer market. In addition to di-
versifying its client base, the firm
expanded its services to include
specialized consulting resources
through the acquisition of Cipe
Consulting in 2014 and most re-
cently, expanded its managed
services capabilities for provid-
ers through the acquisition of
LinkEHR in 2018. CEO Brian Ca-
hill sat down with Consulting to
discuss the firm's performance.
Consulting: What were the main
factors that contributed to your firm’s

Consulting: How is this year shaping
up for your firm?
Cahill: This has been an exciting year for us as we continued to
strengthen our consulting and outsourced services for the healthcare industry. Cumberland has
been fortunate to achieve year-over-year growth for over a decade, and 2019 is shaping up to be
another good year.
Consulting: How would you describe
your firm’s outlook for 2020?
Cahill: We are confident in our
ability to continue to provide qual-
ity services to our clients in 2020.
Most of the immediate opportuni-
ties on the horizon are related to
healthcare clients’ growing need
for strategic advisory services and
their increasing move to outsource
critical business functions.
Consulting: What are your firm’s
biggest challenges in 2020?
Cahill: As always, it will be important for us to retain our talented
team, find new talent and continue
to evolve our services to meet the
ever-changing needs of our clients
in a regulated industry.
