The desire to provide her clients
with more innovative and cost-effective solutions is what inspired
Robin to found Artlin Consulting
in 2011. Her own long record of
success in strategic planning and
program management— combined with her vast and well-established network of industry experts — proved key to attracting
top staff and partners to launch
the venture. Tomlin sat down with
Consulting to discuss the firm’s financial performance that led to its
263 percent revenue growth.
Consulting: What were the main
factors that contributed to your
firm’s exceptional growth?
Tomlin: Our exceptional people are
what have contributed to our growth.
Our clients recognize that although
we are a small business, our leadership team, and many of our employees, came from large consulting
firms. Our high-caliber consultants
are able to transfer our knowledge
and expertise to our clients. Without
great people we would not experience success and/or growth.
Consulting: How is this year
shaping up for your firm?
Tomlin: We are experiencing another successful year. We are performing well on all our existing
contracts as well as expanding our
business with numerous new bid
wins. Receiving this recognition is
“icing on the cake!”
Consulting: How would you
describe your firm’s outlook for
Tomlin: We see opportunity in any
situation where we can utilize our
agility and experience to solve a cli-
ent need. Currently the majority of
our opportunities are with the Depart-
ment of Defense; however, we are
excited to continue to branch out into
other areas over the next few years.
Consulting: What would you say are
your firm’s biggest challenges?
Tomlin: Our biggest challenge
will come when we transition
from a small business and have to
compete with mid-tier firms.
Consulting: What does being named
one of Consulting’s Fastest Growing
Firms mean to your firm, your
employees and your clients?
Tomlin: This recognition is validation for all the hard work that
our consultants have dedicated
to Artlin over the past few years.
It also highlights the trust our
clients have put in our ability to
partner with them. Not only does
this award validate we are doing
the right thing by our clients and
employees, it confirms we are
moving in the right direction.
