The HCI Group is a world leader in
healthcare IT consulting, with operations on four continents. The firm’s
services include implementation and
training of all Electronic Health Record (EHR) vendors, as well as service lines in optimization, clinical
adoption, integration and testing, Go-Live, and advisory services, among
others. From Johns Hopkins and Tenet Health to Canada, Europe, Asia
and beyond, we’ve developed a track
record of proven excellence in developing smarter approaches to solving
healthcare IT challenges. Few things
are more important for the success of
today’s healthcare systems than finding the right healthcare IT partner,
says Ricky Caplin, CEO of the HCI
Group. Information system departments are busier than ever, managing
large-scale EHR implementations,
application and legacy support, help
desk, hardware and device integration, data management, and telecom.
The lists of projects in the pipeline
are constantly evolving and endlessly complex. Resources are scarce,
and leadership must demand partners that understand their needs and
have the ability to bring considerable
value through thoughtful solutions
and competent support. Consulting
sat down with Caplin to discuss the
firm’s outstanding performance.
Consulting: What were the main
factors that contributed to your
firm’s exceptional growth?
Caplin: There are many factors that have contributed to our
growth. The HCI Group is driven
by a strong entrepreneurial spirit that encourages innovation and
taking calculated risks. We continue to invest in future services and
global expansion. Through the acquisition of two firms in the past
year, we’ve continued to expand
our portfolio of services. If we
had to pick one factor however, it
would be God’s grace in giving us
the gifts, skills, and opportunities
to make any of this possible.
Consulting: How is this year
shaping up for your firm?
Caplin: This year is projected to be
another year of substantial growth
for our company. We’ve contracted and completed a record number
of successful engagements. We are
always looking forward, we are
already preparing for projects to
come in 2017.
Consulting: How would you
describe your firm’s outlook
for 2017? Where do you see
the most opportunities?
Caplin: Optimistic. With the recent
opening of our office in Dubai, we
now have operations on four continents. In 2017, we are well positioned
to add more key clients domestically,
while continuing to expand globally
in our mission to help improve the
standards of healthcare worldwide.
Consulting: What would you
say are your firm’s biggest
challenges in 2017?
Caplin: At HCI, we will continue to
challenge ourselves to improve and
expand. In an industry with a heavy
influx of market entrants, we must
continue to provide differentiated
services of the highest quality.
Consulting: What does being
named one of Consulting’s
Fastest Growing Firms mean
to your firm, your employees
and your clients?
Caplin: Our sustained growth is evidence of the high-quality management consulting services we continue to deliver. Our company and
employees are extremely proud to
be recognized for the hard work that
we put in every day for our clients.
