With an other-worldy revenue growth
of 1,881 percent, Nexus Global Business Solutions in the No. 1 firm on
Consulting’s Fastest Growing Firms
list. Nexus is an asset performance
management consulting company offering customized solutions to asset
intensive industries worldwide. Its
suite of solutions helps organizations
connect the inherent knowledge in
their operations with peak performance outcomes ranging from equipment reliability and asset optimization
to manpower utilization. “We do this
through a comprehensive suite of consulting, coaching, training, software,
and manpower solutions that yield an
ROI of ten-to-one or greater, says Larry Olson, President of Nexus Global
Business Solutions. Olson sat down to
discuss Nexus’ performance.
Consulting: What were the
main factors that contributed
to your exceptional growth?
Olson: Our people and their dedication to our values are always a top
contributor. Secondly the quality of
our work and the value we deliver
speaks for itself and the clients see
a rapid return on investment, so they
are always talking and this leads to
doors opening in other organizations.
Consulting: How is 2015
shaping up for your firm?
Olson: In 2015 we took the opportunity to expand into new regions and
positioned the company for another
5-plus year growth. We also acquired
another firm in Australia that will
lay the groundwork for some great
opportunities within other industry
sectors as well as the Asia Pacific region. With this strategy we will see a
small gain in 2015 but strategically
be in a great place for the future.
Consulting: How would you describe your firm’s outlook for
2016? Where do you see the
Olson: With the groundwork laid
in 2015 we should expect to see
more than 30 percent growth across
the company. The opportunities
will vary based on industry sector,
however productivity within the
workforce and knowledge manage-
ment will be a couple key areas of
focus. With a retiring baby boomer
era coming along and more compa-
nies offering severance packages we
need to put more effort into knowl-
edge retention within corporate sys-
tems—in other words knowledge
transfer from human brain to elec-
tronic data sources.
Consulting: What do you see
as the biggest challenges for
your firm in 2016?
Olson: Being an election year things
are a bit unpredictable, but with our
suite of solutions we should be able
to withstand any skepticism. We
are also strong in the energy sector
so the oil prices could have somewhat of an impact as the industry is
becoming more conservative with
where they spend money. We see
our services as value added so the
impact may be minimal.
Consulting: What does being
named one of Consulting’s
Fastest Growing Firms mean
to your firm, your employees
and your clients?
Olson: Of course, honors of this
nature are not taken lightly within
our organization; meaning all our
personnel are great contributors so
it is a delight to see them be honored with such an award. There is
not a single person in our organization that would stand up and speak
without honoring a colleague at the
same time, that is why we continue to grow. An award like this just
puts an exclamation mark behind
everything they stand for and the
efforts they put forth.
